Obožujem praznično vzdušje v decembru. Rada okrašujem stanovanje in ob tem najraje znova in znova poslušam praznične pesmi. Ampak stvar, ki pa res sovražim je ta, ko sredi oktobra zagledam v trgovinah okraske in adventne koledarje, še hujše - včasih jih lahko najdeš že v začetku septembra. Razumem, da prodajalci želijo biti prvi, zanimivi in hočejo prodati, ampak saj niste resni!? Ne kupim! Čas za praznike prihaja v začetku decembra, do takrat pa me ne zanima.

Dobro, zdaj ni še čas za praznično okraševanje, ampak a ni škoda, da porabimo ves ta denar za lučke in okraske, ki jih lahko uporabimo samo nekaj tednov vsako leto? Ostalih 11 mesecev so zaprti v omaro - a ni to takšna potrata prostora? Torej, kaj lahko naredimo? Lučke recimo, lahko z nekaj dodatki in spremembami uporabiš za okrasitev stanovanja in zabav čez vse leto.

I love the holiday spirit in December. I love to decorate our apartment and I love to listen to the Christmas songs over and over again. But I absolutely hate it, when I see holiday decorations and advent calendars in stores in the middle of October or worse in the beginning of September. I understand that you want to be first, interesting and you want to sell, but come on!? I'm not buying! The time for the holidays is coming in the beginning of December. Until then, I'm not interested.

Ok, it's not the time for holiday decorations just yet, but isn't it a shame, that we spend all this money on lights and other decorations, that we can use only for a few weeks each year? And the other 11 months we store them in a closet - isn't this such a waste of space? So what should we do? Well, you can use the holiday lights with some adjustments and decorate your apartment or a party all year round.

KAJ POTREBUJEŠ?

- liste papirja (poskusi uporabiti odpadni papir iz starih zvezkov, revij,...)

- škarje

- praznične lučke

- tvoje ustvarjalne roke :)

Preden začneš zgibati, preštej koliko lučk imaš na verigi ali pa preveri številko na škatli - to je število, koliko A5 listov potrebuješ. Jaz sem imela A3 liste, zato sem jih najprej razrezala na četrtine. Poskusi uporabiti liste papirja, ki jih ne potrebuješ več - stare zvezke, revije, časopis. Jaz ravno delam na svoji magistrski nalogi in moram skoraj vsak teden natisniti nove risbe načrtov, zato sem se odločila, da bom uporabila te.

Najverjetneje imaš A4 liste, zato jih najprej razreži na pol, da dobiš A5 format. Za papirnate kocke potrebujemo kvadratne kose papirja. Prepogni papir tako, kot kaže slika spodaj in odreži pravokotnik, ki je odveč.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

- paper sheets (try to reuse waste paper from your old notebooks, magazines,...)

Before you start folding, count how many lights are there or check the number on the box - this is the number of A5 sheets you'll need. I had A3 paper sheets, so I've cut them in quarters. Try to reuse paper that you don't need anymore, such as old notebooks, magazines and newspapers. I'm working on my masters thesis now and I have to print new copies of my drawings almost every week. I've decided to reuse my old copies in this DIY.

You probably have A4 paper sheets, so the first thing you should do is cut them on a half and you will get an A5 format. For paper cubes we need square pieces of paper. Fold the paper like I did on the pictures below and cut off the rectangle.

Zdaj pa sledi navodilom na fotografiji spodaj in ponovi postopek tolikokrat, da dobiš dovolj kock. Lahko narediš papirnate kocke za vse lučke, za vsako drugo, tretjo,... Zdaj pa vzemi svojo nove papirnate lampijončke in z njimi okrasi svojo spalnico, pisarno, dnevno sobo. Lahko jih uporabiš tudi za okrasitev svoje vrtne zabave, rojstnega dneva ali poroke. Uporabi bel papir za okrasitev doma in barvni papir za dekoracijo zabave. Najboljše pa je, ko pride praznični december, lahko papirnate kocke odstraniš in jih ponovno uporabiš, ko so prazniki mimo. Samo previdno in preveri, da ni papir pregret zaradi lučk - verjetno si ne želiš, da se tvoje romantične lučke spremenijo v kres!

Use white or light paper for your home and fun colored paper for a party decoration. The best thing is, when the holidays come, you can take the paper cubes off and reuse them again at the end of December. Just be careful and check that the paper is not overheated by the lights - you don't want to turn your romantic lights into a bonfire!
