Lovilec sanj je lahko lep dodatek za dom in odločila sem se, da enega naredim tudi sama. Ampak preden začnem s samim postopkom izdelave, mogoče veš iz kje lovilec sanj sploh izhaja in čemu je (bil) pravzaprav namenjen?
Gre za ročno narejen izdelek ameriških Indijancev, sestavljen iz lesenega obroča, mreže iz vrvice, ki spominja na pajkovo mrežo, ter iz svetih predmetov, kot so peresa in kroglice. Le te so pritrjene na osnovni obroč tako, da iz njega visijo. Lovilci sanj so bili v osnovi narejeni za zaščito ljudi, še posebej otrok pred slabimi sanjami in nočnimi morami. Dobre sanje skozi mrežo spolzijo in se po peresih spustijo na osebo, ki spi pod njim; slabe sanje pa se v mrežo ujamejo in zgorijo, ko na lovilec sanj posvetijo prvi jutranji sončni žarki. Dreamcatcher can be a nice decorative item for your home and I decided to make one. But before I show you how I did it, do you know where the dreamcatcher is coming from and what is/was it's purpose?
It's a handmade item originally made by American Indians. They usually consist of a small wooden hoop covered in a net or web of natural fibers, with meaningful sacred items like feathers and beads attached, hanging down from the bottom of the hoop. Dream catchers were traditionally used as talismans to protect sleeping people, usually children, from bad dreams and nightmares. Good dreams pass through the web and gently slide down the feathers to comfort the sleeper below. Bad dreams, however, are caught up in its protective net and destroyed, burned up in the light of day. (source) HERE.

Za izdelavo lovilca sanj potrebuješ:
- lesen obroč (obroč je lahko tudi iz žice, debelejšega kartona, plastike,...)
- vrvice in okrasne trakove
- peresa
- okrasne kroglice
- tekoče lepilo

To make a dreamcatcher you will need:
- a wooden hoop (you can also use a hoop made of wire, thick cardboard, plastic,...)
- threads and ribbons
- feathers
- beads
- white glue

Ker mi je bil lesen videz obroča všeč, ga nisem želela v celoti prekriti. Z vrvico sem zato prekrila le kovinski del obroča in s tem ustvarila zanko za obešanje. Vozle in konice vrvic sem zakrila z dvema lesenima kroglicama, le te pa na mesto fiksirala s tekočim lepilom.
V naslednjem koraku sem se lotila pletenja mreže. V prvem poizkusu nisem bila najbolj zadovoljna z rezultatom, zato sem postopek ponovila. ;) Začetek vrvice privežeš na krog in začneš s prepletanjem vrvice na obroč. Razmak med zankami je v prvem krogu poljuben - več kot jih bo, bolj bo mreža gosta. Po prvem krogu nadaljujemo s prepletanjem vrvice čez sredine prejšnjega kroga in tako naprej, dokler ne pridemo do sredine kroga (glej fotografije spodaj). V sredini kroga sem naredila vozel in ga ponovno zakrila z leseno kroglico.
V tretjem koraku sem na leseni obroč pritrdila še vrvice s peresi. Na vsako vrvico sem zavezala po dve peresi, vozel in konice pa spet zakrila tako, da sem čez zalepila lesene kroglice. Vse konice vrvic sem na koncu tudi porezala, vozle pa premazala z lepilom, da se ne bi odvezali.
V naslednjem koraku sem se lotila pletenja mreže. Because I like the look of the hoop, I didn't want to cover the whole hoop. I used the thread to cover only the metal part where I made a loop for hanging the dreamcatcher. I hid the knots and thread ends with two wooden beads, which I fixed with a glue.
In the next step I started knitting the web. I didn't like the result of my first try so I had to repeat the procedure. ;) First thing you have to do is to tie a thread to the hoop. Then you can start twisting it around the hoop. The gap between the loops is optional - more loops you made, more dense the web will be. After the first round we continue with twisting the thread, but this time around the middle of the threads from the previous round. Continue until you reach the middle of the hoop (check the photos below). I made a knot in the middle of the circle and I hid it again with a wooden bead.
In the third step I attached some feathers to the hoop. I tied two feathers to each thread. Again, I hid the knots and ends of the feathers with wooden beads and some glue. At the end, I cut all the tips of the threads and I fixed the knots with glue.
In the next step I started knitting the web. I didn't like the result of my first try so I had to repeat the procedure. ;) First thing you have to do is to tie a thread to the hoop. Ne pozabi deliti objave tudi s svojimi prijatelji, če ti je lovilec sanj všeč ali pa poznaš koga, ki bi ga z veseljem izdelal. :) Jaz sem lovilec sanj zavezala na daljšo vrvico in ga pritrdila nad otroško posteljico. Kam bi ga pa ti postavil/a? :)
